My Top 85 Songs

Today I was talking to a really good friend that I'm slowly getting to know. I don't know if she knows this about me, but I LOVE music. I used to "collect" music as a hobby. Even if I didn't like the music, I would get it (example: Andrew W.K.). I had a lot of music. Anyways, I told her what my top three favorite songs were (they're kinda tied) and that got me thinking about my top 10 favorite songs. So my husband and I decided to make a list. It's now 11:00 p.m. (the latest I've stayed up in a loooong time) and I'm sharing it with you because I can't stop thinking about it. P.S. This post is a pain in my ass to post. The last list of songs are supposed to be numbered. Whatever.

My Christmas tree is still up

It is the 16th of January and I have yet to take down the basement Christmas tree. I need to do that before Wednesday. On Wednesday, DirectTV is coming to set up. And I will be utterly embarrassed to have that sitting in our living room. I have expectations for myself that I never seem to follow through with... The Christmas tree being one of them.

One thing I am seriously following through with is watching movies. I love watching movies! And thank goodness for Netflix Instant Watch because I have a serious addiction.

Have I explained that I want to knit or crochet? Because I do. And watching movies and knitting/crocheting would just be a match made in Heaven. I would love to make a scarf and hat set, along with mittens, if I can. I'm going to look into Des Moines Community Ed classes, and hopefully I can find something. Thank goodness we're getting DVR, because I wouldn't want to miss my shows.

I feel boring and slightly worthless when I talk of my life. I love my life, but it isn't what I was expecting when I was little. Where is my Hollywood? And I married a man that wants to take me there, but I don't want to go. Why? Good question. That will lie in the same pile of "why" questions where "Why is the Christmas tree still up?" is.

Home (By Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes) - To my EJC

Alabama, Arkansas, I do love my Ma & Pa
Not the way that I do love you

Holy roly, me, oh my, you’re the apple of my eye
Girl, I’ve never loved one like you

Man, oh man, you’re my best friend, I scream it to the nothingness
There ain’t nothin’ that I need

Well, hot & heavy, pumpkin pie, chocolate candy, Jesus Christ
There ain’t nothin’ please me more than you

Ahh, Home
Let me come Home
Home is wherever I’m with you
(2x)
La la la la, take me Home
Mother, I’m coming Home

I’ll follow you into the park, through the jungle, through the dark
Girl, I’ve never loved one like you

Moats & boats & waterfalls, alley ways & pay phone calls
I’ve been everywhere with you

That’s true

We laugh until we think we’ll die, barefoot on a summer night
Nothin’ new is sweeter than with you

And in the sticks we’re running free like it’s only you and me
Geez, you’re something to see.

Ahh, Home
Let me come Home
Home is wherever I’m with you
(2x)
La la la la, take me Home
Father, I’m coming Home

“Jade?”
“Alexander?”
“Do you remember that day you fell out of my window?”
“I sure do, you came jumping out after me.”
“Well, you fell on the concrete and nearly broke your ass and you were bleeding all over the place and I rushed you off to the hospital. Do you remember that?”
“Yes, I do.”
“Well, there’s something I never told you about that night.”
“What didn’t you tell me?”
“While you were sitting in the backseat smoking a cigarette you thought was going to be your last, I was falling deep, deeply in love with you and I never told you ‘til just now.”
“Now I know.”

Ahh, Home
Let me come Home
Home is whenever I’m with you
Ahh, Home
Let me come Home
Home is when I’m alone with you

Home
Let me come Home
Home is wherever I’m with you

Ahh, Home
Yes, I am Home
Home is when I’m alone with you.

Alabama, Arkansas, I do love my Ma & Pa
Moats & boats & waterfalls & pay phone calls

Ahh, Home
Let me come Home
Home is wherever I’m with you
Ahh, Home
Let me come Home
Home is when I’m alone with you

Bubbles and Puppy Love

This is a continuation of my previous post. I have had time to relax and not be so stressed out, so the tone will hopefully come across that way. I will though, still bitch about my day.

You can skip this big paragraph if you don't want to hear me complain about (pretty much nothing) my life. So after I fell asleep at 11:30sih, and after the text, I wake up coughing at 1:51 a.m.. Seriously? DIE! I get out of bed, trying not to wake Eric or the kids (I would hate to have to let Boston out at that time). I made a cup of tea, trying to sooth my throat... but that didn't work. I finally took some cold medicine (not for a cough) and went back to bed. Luckily, I slept until my alarm went off and I did NOT want to get out of bed. I even thought about sleeping in and then calling in late. But I didn't want to do that. That's not fair to my co-workers or my work on my desk (aka... clients). Got to work. Work is work. Although, today, I was irritated because I was tired and cranky. Eric emails me and tell me his brake light is still on after he puts fluid in... great. That means more money out of our pocket. SWEET. And he also tells me our cable/internet bill went up about $50.00... Oh great. This was a good start to the morning! But more work related irritation, that sent me over the edge - put other peoples work where you have been asked to put it. If it is not yours, don't keep it. I had to redo a file because people don't understand that concept. Common courtesy would be nice in an office... but no. I went to lunch. Vented to my mom. And I felt better. And during this whole crappy day, I'm having friend issues. I want to "break up" with one of my friends. It's hard. Really hard.

I'm home now. I'm happy now. I would take a nap, but I'm going out to dinner with Ellen and her family to celebrate Ellen's 24th birthday... wooooowhoooo!

Is my fish dying?

I'm so frustrated today. And it all started at 10:00 p.m. last night. Exactly, 10:00 p.m..

The Lifetime movie Craigslist Killer had just ended, and I looked up at the clock and saw it click over to 10:00. I thought to myself, "Really, it's already 10:00?"... but I wasn't tired at all. Which was very odd.

It was around 10:18 p.m. when I told everyone to get off the couch, we're going to bed! Eric and I started doing our nightly routine... let the dogs out, go to the bathroom, take my meds, brush our teeth, change into pj's, etc. When we finally get into bed, we see that Jay Leno's HEADLINES is on (which is my favorite). We watch that and then once that's over, I realize it's almost 11:00 p.m.. WHOA... that's late for me.

Eric turns off the TV and almost immediately passes out. I sit there wide awake and realize "That little dick at Starbucks didn't give me decafe coffee, as I requested... FUCK." I toss and turn, and toss and turn... and think and my mind is running a mile a minute (in this minute, I realize, of course my friend can't fall asleep... it really is the caffeine!). At some point I do fall asleep, but I believe my mind is still going.

Then I get a text message from my friend. I ignore it. But "try" to go back to sleep. Which... I did...

*** I have to get back to work now... as this is only my lunch break... I'll continue this rant after work or tonight.***

Sweet little girl from Iowa

Wow. It's been a while. But here I am again.

I read Kelli's blog tonight and it made me want to get mine back out... just in case! Just a little chit chatting to myself.

I'm making this short... Eric would like to use the computer too. Mainly, to look up why some light came on in his car. Uh-oh.

I remember when I started this blog, and the other two I had started too, I was going through some tough times. I was really depressed and really crazy. I was really fake to everyone and I pretended to be something I wasn't. I feel like I'm a completely different person now. And I'm ready for a different life. I enjoy where I'm at and what I'm doing.

Mallory is digging her grave

"We all have a weakness
But some of ours are easy to identify. Look me in the eye,
and ask for forgiveness.
We'll make a pact to never speak that word again.
Yes, you are my friend.
We all have something that digs at us,
at least we dig each other.

So when weakness turns my ego up
I know you'll count on the me from yesterday.

If I turn into another
dig me up from under what is covering
the better part of me.
Sing this song
remind me that we'll always have each other
when everything else is gone."
